Latest COVID-19 numbers in southwest Illinois include 3 new deaths, 2,900 total cases
Health department officials in St. Clair County and Randolph County announced new coronavirus deaths Wednesday.
The St. Clair County Health Department reported two people died: A man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s, both with underlying health conditions. The county has had 114 COVID-19 deaths this year.
Randolph County said one person died but did not release details about this case. Seven COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in Randolph County this year.
In the region, counties have reported 220 deaths since the pandemic began and 2,900 positive cases. Overall, on Wednesday, three new deaths and 33 new cases were announced.
Statewide, 625 new coronavirus cases and 78 more virus-related deaths have been reported, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced Wednesday.
The new cases bring Illinois’ total to 129,837 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began. There have been a total of 6,095 deaths in the state.
Laboratories have performed 1,100,002 coronavirus tests statewide, with 20,820 of them recorded since Tuesday.
