Illinois coronavirus death toll passes 6,000
Statewide, 797 new coronavirus cases and 95 more virus-related deaths have been reported, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced Tuesday.
The new cases bring Illinois’ total to 129,212 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began. There have been a total of 6,018 deaths in the state.
This was the fifth day in a row that the state had fewer than 100 deaths.
Laboratories have performed more than 1 million coronavirus tests statewide, with 20,309 of them recorded since Monday.
