Just 20 new coronavirus cases reported in southwestern Illinois counties
Metro-east counties collectively reported 20 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday.
St. Clair County and Madison County officials reported a collective 16 confirmed cases of COVID-19, a significant drop from Monday’s total of 50 new cases.
Health officials also reported one additional death in St. Clair County, a man in his 70s with underlying health issues.
Elsewhere in the county, four additional cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Randolph, Perry and
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health department reported 623 new cases of the virus had been confirmed with 72 additional deaths.
Illinois has seen a total of 6,398 deaths during the pandemic, officials reported. A total of 133,639 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, while more than 1 million people have been tested for COVID-19.
