No new COVID-19 deaths in southwest Illinois, as Madison & St. Clair report 55 new cases
No new COVID-19 deaths in the region were reported Friday, but St. Clair County and Madison County announced a combined total of 55 new cases.
St. Clair County reported 32 new cases. Of the new positives in St. Clair County, the range was in age from under 1 to 100s. That’s the youngest the county has announced to date. Madison County, meanwhile, announced 23 new cases.
Overall on Friday, the region saw a total of 56 new coronavirus cases. The region now has 238 COVID-19 related deaths and 3,303 positive cases since the start of the pandemic.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health department on Friday reported 692 new cases of the virus had been confirmed with 44 additional deaths.
Illinois has seen a total of 6,580 deaths during the pandemic, officials reported. A total of 135,470 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, while more than 1.3 million people have been tested for COVID-19.
