St. Clair and Madison counties each report 1 new COVID-19 death
St. Clair County and Madison County each reported one new COVID-19 death Wednesday and a total of 55 new cases.
St. Clair County officials reported one man in his 70s with underlying health conditions died from the virus. That brings the county’s death total to 136. St. Clair also reported 32 new cases.
Madison County reported one woman in her 90s died from the virus. It is unknown if she had underlying health conditions. Madison now has 68 COVID-19 related deaths, with the county reporting 23 new cases Wednesday.
Overall on Wednesday, the region saw a total of 60 new coronavirus cases and two deaths.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health department on Wednesday reported 715 new cases of the virus had been confirmed with 64 additional deaths.
Illinois has seen a total of 6,770 deaths during the pandemic, officials reported. A total of 138,540 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, while more than 1.4 million people have been tested for COVID-19.
