3 more deaths from St. Clair County long-term care centers with coronavirus outbreaks

Three more people have died in coronavirus outbreaks at St. Clair County long-term care centers, the health department announced Monday.

A total of 88 deaths have now been connected to outbreaks at nursing homes and other care facilities in the county, which is 65% of the 135 deaths countywide.

The latest deaths announced Monday were from Cedar Ridge of Lebanon and Swansea Rehab and Care Center.

The novel virus causes the COVID-19 respiratory disease. Older people and people with chronic health conditions are more vulnerable to severe illness or death from COVID-19.

The St. Clair County Health Department provides daily updates on the long-term care centers and other developments in the county during 3:30 p.m. live streams by the St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency on Facebook.

Here is the information the health department provided Monday on locations that have been in “outbreak status,” with two or more residents or staff who are COVID-19 positive or have COVID-19-like symptoms, since the coronavirus pandemic began.
