St. Clair, Madison counties report 68 new COVID-19 cases, but no new deaths

St. Clair and Madison counties announced a total of 68 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, but no deaths.

St. Clair County has 2,370 cases and 144 deaths, while Madison County has 1,090 cases and 70 deaths. Currently, St. Clair and Madison counties seven-day rolling average are 34 and 19 cases per day, respectively.

Monroe County, Jersey County and Perry County also reported one new coronavirus case each Wednesday. Overall, the region had 71 new cases announced Wednesday, but no deaths.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health on Wednesday reported 980 new cases of the virus had been confirmed with 36 additional deaths.

Illinois has seen a total of 7,099 deaths during the pandemic as of Wednesday, officials reported. A total of 149,432 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, while more than 1.8 million people have been tested for COVID-19, including 32,742 since Tuesday.

Here are the latest available statistics for southwestern Illinois counties. The number in parenthesis reflects how the new daily total compares to the prior day total. Subtractions occur when a COVID-19 positive patient is misdiagnosed or moves away from the area.
