3 new deaths from St. Clair County long-term care centers with coronavirus outbreaks
St. Clair County officials on Tuesday announced three new coronavirus-related deaths from long-term care centers in the county.
The latest deaths were connected to Lebanon Care Center, BRIA of Belleville and Swansea Rehab and Care Center.
Tuesday was the first time in two weeks — not since June 22 — that any deaths had been attributed to long-term care centers.
Swansea Rehab and Care Center has also added nine new coronavirus cases since Friday, according to the health department. And there have been five new cases since Friday out of BRIA of Belleville.
Long-term care residents are among the most vulnerable to severe illness or death from the coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 respiratory disease. St. Clair County officials provide updates on outbreaks at long-term care centers and other developments in the county on the St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency’s Facebook page.
New location reporting coronavirus cases
The coronavirus has spread to a Belleville care facility for adults who have disabilities, according to the St. Clair County Health Department.
Adaptive Illinois is the latest long-term care provider to be included in the county’s daily reports on coronavirus outbreaks. It first appeared in Sunday’s report.
The health department said Adaptive Illinois has had two cases, the minimum amount to be considered an outbreak of the virus.
