Assisted living center in Swansea reporting coronavirus cases, officials announce

A long-term care center in Swansea is reporting its first cases of the coronavirus, the St. Clair County Health Department announced Tuesday.

County officials’ report on Tuesday included the new location, Bradford Place, which reported four coronavirus cases to the health department. Bradford Place is an assisted living facility that also provides Alzheimer’s disease care.

The health department announced an additional death and a new coronavirus case, both from St. Paul’s Home, bringing the Belleville facility to a total of 54 cases and 15 deaths.

Long-term care residents are among the most vulnerable to severe illness or death from the coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 respiratory disease. St. Clair County officials provide updates on outbreaks at long-term care centers and other developments in the county on the St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency’s Facebook page.

Here is the information the health department provided Tuesday on locations that have been in “outbreak status,” with two or more residents or staff who are COVID-19 positive or have COVID-19-like symptoms, since the coronavirus pandemic began.
