IL reports 7 COVID-19 deaths in St. Clair County last week. See the latest CDC data
As of June 24, St. Clair County is at a medium COVID-19 community level and at high community transmission, both separate metrics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Neighboring Washington County is at a high community level, along with four other southern Illinois counties, Marion, Wayne, Johnson and Massac. Several counties farther north are at high community levels, as well.
Indoor masking is recommended in high community level locales, and staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters is recommended for everyone regardless of community level.
Those who have come in contact with someone who tested positive or who have symptoms themselves should wear a mask and get tested.
An area’s community level is based on metrics from the past 7 days, including new COVID-19 hospital admissions per 100,000 people, average percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients and total new cases per 100,000 people.
The community transmission level is based on past 7 days’ number of cases per 100,000 people and portion of positive nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs).
St. Clair County recorded a 31.1 daily case rate per 100,000 people, with 22% of ICU beds still available. The state data also indicates the county had two COVID-19 hospital admissions and seven weekly deaths reported.
The number of cases in St. Clair County dropped by 12.62% over the past 7 days, according to the CDC. At the same time, testing increased by 21.71% and the test positivity rate decreased by 1.82%.
