Man charged nearly one year after metro-east burglary

A 27-year-old Caseyville man was charged nearly one year after a home burglary was reported to police.

Caseyville Police Sgt. Gerard Spratt identified the suspect as Devion C. Oliver. Oliver was recently charged with one count of residential burglary after the case was reviewed by the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The burglary was reported in the 400 block of South Fourth Street on Oct. 30. At the time, police said the suspect was reported to be armed with a gun and ran from the scene. The suspect was not initially located. The case was given to Detective Michael Reel for investigation.

The state’s attorney’s office filed the felony charge against Oliver on Friday. His bail was set at $75,000. Oliver remained at the St. Clair County jail on Thursday.
