Illinois is the 16th most fun state in the United States, according to wallethub.com.
The website ranked each of the 50 states according to a number of categories, including number of attractions, variety of entertainment and recreation establishments, weather, restaurants per capita and more.
Each state was also ranked on nightlife options, music festivals, and movie costs.
Illinois scored a total of 40.04 points, finishing just behind California and ahead of Washington on the list.

While Illinois ranked high overall, there were two categories where the Land of Lincoln finished in the bottom five. The state is one of the worst with access to national parks and has among the fewest skiing facilities per capita.
Missouri ranked 22nd on the list. The most fun state in the country, according to wallethub.com, is Nevada; the least fun is Mississippi.
