Soak up the sun now — metro-east residents are in for a rainy weekend.

As metro-residents go about their Thursday they should see mostly sunny skies with a high around near 86 degrees — that is until 1 p.m., when National Weather Service forecastors say there is a 20 percent chance of rain.

Into Thursday night people can expect rain and thunderstorms before 4 a.m. Friday with a low around 65 degrees.

This week’s forecast for the metro-east from the National Weather Service:

Today ... A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86 degrees. South wind 9 to 11 mph.

Tonight ... Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65 degrees. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Friday ... Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81 degrees. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Friday Night ... Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67 degrees. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Saturday ... Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81 degrees. South wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
