Cool rain opened Saturday’s metro-east events, with more rain expected throughout the day.
The rainy Saturday dawned at 61 degrees with heavy rain in the early morning hours. Saturday’s high temperature is expected to be about 78 degrees, with winds at about 10-15 mph. The National Weather Service predicts cloudy skies with a 50 percent chance of more showers and thunderstorms later Saturday.
The metro-east is under a flash flood warning until at least 9:45 a.m. Roads were heavily impacted by water in the early hours of Saturday morning, with bursts of extremely heavy rainfall. Ameren’s outage center shows 426 customers in Madison County without power, and 690 in St. Clair County as of about 8 a.m.
