Cahokia man fired shots in the air in Chuck E. Cheese parking lot, police say

After police say he shot a weapon in the air at a child’s birthday party, a Cahokia man has been arrested on two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Fairview Heights police were dispatched Saturday night to near the Chuck E. Cheese in Fairview Heights on a report of shots being fired in the parking lot, according to a department news release.

Witnesses told police that the father of the child celebrating a birthday started to argue with Jovan C. Chamberlain, also a party guest. Police said Chamberlain, 25, retrieved a gun and fired several shots in the air as he drove away from the Chuck E. Cheese parking lot.

Chamberlain returned to the parking lot, police said, where witnesses identified him as the shooting suspect, according to the news release. Officers stopped his car and placed him under arrest, finding a gun inside his vehicle as well as cannabis.

Chamberlain is awaiting arraignment at the Fairview Heights Police Department, according to a news release. His bail is set at $25,000.
