Man stole Fairview Heights woman’s car at gunpoint, police say

A Fairview Heights woman had her car stolen at gunpoint Monday night, police say.

Officers arrived at the Winchester Apartment complex, on Illinois 159 at Frank Scott Parkway in Fairview Heights, and found a female victim who told them she had been sitting in her car parked outside her building at 11 p.m. Monday when a man approached her and told her to get out of the car. The man pointed a gun at her, and the woman got of the vehicle.

The man, described as a black male with dark skin, 20 years of age, clean shaven and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with grey in the middle — got in and drove away toward Frank Scott Parkway. The victim was not harmed in the carjacking.

The woman’s car is a white 2013 Kia Optima, with Illinois license plates Z286911. Anyone with information about this crime should contact the Fairview Heights Police Department at 618-489-2100 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-371-8477.
