One hospitalized after driver veers into car stopped at red light

One person was hospitalized after an accident in Cahokia where a man swerved into a driver sitting at a red light on Friday, police say.

A man driving a Sierra Oldsmobile either didn’t have brakes or didn’t use them as he veered into a Dodge Stratus waiting at a light on Camp Jackson Road, Cahokia police Sgt. Chris McGinnis said.

The driver of the Dodge Stratus was taken to the hospital with noncritical injuries such as facial lacerations, McGinnis said. Another vehicle was involved in the accident but did not have any damage, and the driver was uninjured.

The driver of the Oldsmobile was issued a citation, McGinnis said.
