I-55 reopens after St. Louis train derailment
All lanes are now open after a train crossing over Interstate 55 derailed in St. Louis County.
All lanes of I-55 were closed Saturday afternoon, though some lanes began opening up overnight. As of 8:30 a.m. Sunday, all lanes and subsequent ramps have reopened, according to the St. Louis County Police Department.
The derailment occurred about 3:30 p.m. between Butler Hill Road and Lindbergh Boulevard. The cause of the derailment remains unknown. The I-55 lanes between Butler Hill and Lindberg were closed due to coal spilling from the train cars onto the highway.
No injuries were reported at the time of the derailment.
