Washington County Sheriff Danny Bradac announced he will not be seeking reelection.

Washington County’s sheriff will not seek re-election after his first term in the position.

Sheriff Danny J. Bradac published an opinion piece in the Nashville News on Aug. 30 to tell his constituents of his plans. Bradac didn’t give a reason, just saying it was for “very private” reasons. He plans to leave office Dec. 1, 2018.

Bradac has been sheriff for three years and before that spent 15 years in law enforcement in Washington County, he said in the opinion piece.

“My staff and I have accomplished many things I am proud of,” Bradac wrote. “Over the last few years, I have not been perfect. I have made mistakes, and there are some things I would change if I could.”

He’ll leave proud of the things he has accomplished in office, he wrote.
