The shooting death of a black man on a Tuesday in December of 2011 led to protests after the police officer charged was declared not guilty on Friday.
Anthony Lamar Smith, 24, died on Dec. 20, 2011, after a short car chase reaching speeds of nearly 90 mph. Two police officers approached his crashed car, and one, Jason Stockley, shot Smith because, Stockley said, he feared for his safety.
