New Caseyville Mexican restaurant postpones opening date

You’ll have to wait a little bit longer for the new Mexican restaurant to open in Caseyville.

Tres Caminos, 601 N. Main St., is expected to open at 11 a.m. Oct. 2, owner Octavio Caratachea said. The young restaurateur hoped to open this week on Sept. 27.

In a Facebook post, the restaurant said training was taking longer than expected. In addition, Caratachea said one of his cook’s is getting married.

“We will open as soon as possible and will be sure to keep you posted,” the restaurant wrote Monday.

Tres Caminos is Spanish for “three roads.”

Caratachea hopes the location will bring business to the restaurant. The building was previously home to the Happy Cow restaurant until it closed in 2016.

A new restaurant hasn’t opened in Caseyville in years, village clerk Lola Cline said. Fast-food chains moved in decades ago, but there aren’t many full-service restaurants.

It’s been decades since someone has made a restaurant investment as large as this one.
