What do you think of Illinois rest stops? IDOT wants your opinion.

The Illinois Department of Transportation wants to know why you stop at rest areas as part of their to evaluate traveler needs.

IDOT has a 20-question online survey at http://www.idot.illinois.gov/. The survey is also available on paper by calling 402-399-1405.

The department hopes to find out what travelers use the rest stops for and if visitors feel safe and secure.

“Many of our rest areas have reached a point where it’s time to evaluate their future,” said Illinois Transportation Secretary Randy Blankenhorn in a news release.

The online survey is available through Oct. 29

IDOT’s 30 rest areas and 11 welcome centers serve more than 36 million visitors a year, the department says.
