Boil order lifted for residents living on two Fairview Heights roads
A boil order was lifted at 4 p.m. Thursday for water customers on McKnight Road and Union Hill Road in Fairview Heights.
The boil order ws a result of a water main break at the intersection of Meckfessel Drive and Union Hill Road. The break has since been repaired.
During a boil water order, water customers should use bottled water, or boil water for 5 minutes, for drinking, cooking, washing fresh fruits/vegetables, hand washing and tooth brushing. Afftected tap water can be used for bathing, showering and household cleaning.
Now that the boil water order has been lifted, these precautionary measures should be followed:
▪ Flush the building’s water lines and clean faucet screens.
▪ Purge the water-using fixtures and appliances of standing water and ice, such as refrigerator ice makers or coffee makers.
