Police find 26-year-old’s body in Mississippi River

Police say they found the body of a 26-year-old Alton man after he reportedly jumped into the Mississippi River around 1:15 a.m. Monday.

Ashton A. Robinson was found near the riverbank around 10:20 a.m. Monday using sonar equipment, according to an Alton Police Department press release.

His body was taken to a funeral home where arrangements are pending.

The Alton Police Department was assisted in the search by the Illinois Conservation Police, Alton Fire Department, Alton Volunteer Emergency Corps — as well as Robsinon’s family and friends.
