Man charged in murder returned to jail after escape

A Missouri inmate was back in custody Tuesday after an escape.

KMOV reported Tuesday morning that Michael W. Jones had escaped from the Lawrence County Jail in Missouri at about 5:30 p.m. Monday. On Tuesday, he was back in custody, found by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

He was handcuffed at the waist and wearing a black and white jumpsuit when he escaped.

Jones, of Mount Vernon, Missouri, was arrested in September 2016 on charges of murder and abandonment of a corpse.
