Elderly man’s death means upgraded charges for Decatur man
A man charged in the Tuesday attack on a 70-year-old Springfield man was expected to be charged with first-degree murder Thursday.
Albert Cole, 70, of Springfield, has died, according to WICS. Cole was attacked at Melrose and 12th streets in Springfield.
Later that day, police arrested Andrew Brady, 27, of Decatur, on a charge of aggravated battery.
The Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office was expected to add first-degree murder charges for Brady on Thursday.
