1-year-old, 3-year-old killed in Southern Illinois crash
Two toddlers and a woman died Thursday in a three-vehicle crash in Massac County.
Rachel Killian, of Marion, was driving a Kia Soul north on U.S. 45 in Massac County when she ran off the road and then over-corrected, according to WSIL-TV. She hit a Chrysler, which then hit a Chevrolet.
Killian and the two toddlers in her Kia Soul were killed, but a baby in the car survived.
The children, ages 1 and 3 years old, were not restrained in car seats at the time of the crash, according to The Southern Illinoisan. Killian was not wearing a seat belt, either.
The surviving child in the car, a 9-month-old baby, was restrained in a child’s seat.
Four other people were injured during the crash, with severe and serious injuries.
The Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
