Police seek home invasion suspect in Fairview Heights
Fairview Heights police are looking for a man who broke into a home Thursday evening in the 400 block of Dogwood Street and struck the resident with a blunt object before running away.
The resident heard a noise in the basement at about 6:25 p.m. and went downstairs to find a man standing in the basement and reported the suspect struck the resident with a blunt metal object, according to police. The two struggled for the weapon before the suspect ran off.
The resident suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment.
Police described the suspect as a white man with a dark beard who is about 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 220 pounds. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Fairview Heights Police officials are asking anyone with information about the home invasion or suspect to call 618-489-2134.
