Candied bacon on a Food Network-famous cupcake? Yes, please.

The recently opened SmallCakes Cupcakery in Fairview Heights has teamed up with Beast Craft BBQ Co. in Belleville to create a one-of-a-kind cupcake for their followers.

The “candied pig” is a vanilla cupcake ($3.75) topped with cream cheese and a caramel drizzle and candied bacon.

It’s only available Friday at SmallCakes, located at 5200 N. Illinois St. next to Jimmy John’s in Fairview Heights. The shop closes at 8 p.m. Friday.

David Sandusky, owner and pit master of Beast Craft BBQ, said the two businesses decided to team up after he visited SmallCakes soon after it opened. He enjoyed their product, and Ben Early, the owner of SmallCakes, is a mutual fan of the Beast.

The candied bacon on the top of the cupcake is bacon coated with brown sugar and black pepper, then smoked for 45 minutes. If you miss Friday’s special, candied bacon ($2.25) is a regular menu item at the Beast, located at 20 South Belt West in Belleville.
