A routine traffic stop Saturday led to the arrest of a Collinsville man who police say was in a stolen vehicle and illegally possessed ammunition.

Jaleen Gladney, 21, of Collinsville, was in the St. Clair County Jail on a $50,000 bail Monday morning.

The man was driving near Interstate 64 and Illinois 157 when he was pulled over by Caseyville Police because the vehicle’s registration was “obstructed,” police wrote in a Facebook post.

Police discovered the car had been stolen, the post stated, and a “large amount of ammunition” was found with Gladney.

The man “attempted to kick his way out of the vehicle” after officers placed into the patrol car, police said.

Gladney is facing felony charges of possessing a stolen vehicle, possessing ammunition as a felon and criminal damage to state supported property.
