A St. Louis musician who was reported missing last week has been found dead.

Nathan Jatcko’s family filed a missing persons report after their son did not show up to a rehearsal Friday and missed an engagement later that day.

A post from the family on Facebook said Jatcko took his own life Wednesday.

“We are at a loss for words, but appreciate all of the love, kindness, and prayers communicated to us over the past five days,” the post read.

The family asked for privacy as they grieved.

Jatcko’s father, John, who lives in Edwardsville, described his son as calm and level-headed. Jatcko went to Mater Dei High School in Breese and most recently played for multiple groups in St. Louis, including for Pavolv’s Dog and Kentucky Knife Fight.

According to the Riverfront Times, Jatcko was “highly regarded in St. Louis’ jazz community.”
