Suspect arrested in connection with rural Fayette County killing
Authorities arrested a Mulberry Grove man in connection with the killing of a 56-year-old man from rural Brownstown, according to police.
Sheriff’s deputies and Illinois State Police arrested David Leroy Bright, 68, on two murder charges issued by the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office.
James Skinner was found dead at his home Sept. 17.
A judge set Bright’s bail at $1 million. As of Thursday morning, he was in custody in the Fayette County Jail.
Illinois State Police District 7 officers and the Bond County Sheriff’s Department assisted the county sheriff’s office in the investigation.
“This should make the residents of Fayette County feel safe knowing we have a suspect in custody,” Sheriff Chris Smith said in a post on social media.
A court date for Bright had not been set as of Thursday morning.
