O’Fallon police said they arrested a 34-year-old man Saturday in connection with a domestic battery where a woman suffered life-threatening injuries.

Paul M. Beaumont was charged with aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery with great bodily harm Saturday, according to St. Clair County court records. Police said he was apprehended after search of the trailer court where he lived.

According to a press release, police were called to 1713 W. Highway 50 for a domestic battery. When officers arrived, they found a woman who suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Her significant other, Beaumont, could not immediately be found.

Lt. Dave Matevey with O’Fallon police said Beaumont was residing at the address, but police had not yet interviewed the woman Saturday morning. He would not elaborate on the relationship between Beaumont and the woman.

“She has not been able to communicate with us yet,” Matevey said Saturday morning.

Beaumont fled the house on foot, Matevey said. Police searched for him for more than two hours before locating him at about 11:30 a.m. in a nearby trailer.
