Hear what candidates vying for a state senate seat have to say

Candidates vying to replace state Sen. Kyle McCarter, R-Lebanon, are scheduled to participate in a forum hosted by the Republican affiliated Metro East Pachyderm Club.

The forum on Thursday is scheduled to include Republicans Jason Plummer, of Edwardsville, Ben Stratemeyer, of Centralia, George Barber, of Greenville, and Rafael Him, of New Baden.

No other candidates filed to run in the state senate district, which runs from the eastern portions of St. Clair and Madison County to Marion and Effingham County.

They are hoping to replace McCarter, who is not seeking another term in the state senate.

Each primary candidate will be able to present their qualifications, plans for the state, their strategy and other relevant information, according to the Pachyderm website.

A question and answer period will then follow.

The forum begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Bella Milano Tuscan Room at 455 Regency Park in O’Fallon.
