Scott Air Force Base was named the second-best place at which to be stationed while serving in the Air Force by a national military news website.
Air Force Times said Scott Air Force Base “fits whatever lifestyle you have” because of the base’s proximity to the city of St. Louis, as well as quiet suburban living.
“Whether you’re single or have a family, there is a nice mix of things to do,” the news outlet wrote. “Service members can go to sporting events or enjoy the amenities of downtown life. If city living isn’t your thing, the quiet Midwest suburbs are perfect for you as well.”
Scott AFB has also won the Abilene Trophy multiple times for its strong connection to local communities.
The base was second to Joint Base San Antonio in Texas, which the Air Force Times said topped the list because of its affordable cost of living and plethora of recreation in the area.
Following Scott AFB in third place was MacDill AFB in Florida, Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio and United States Air Force Academy in Colorado.
