Customers in the Prairie DuPont Water District were put under a boil order Thursday afternoon.
According to the water district’s Facebook page, the boil order was due to a water main break. Customers in Prairie DuPont may experience low water pressure while crews work to repair the break.
“The water main break is from our supplier,” district officials posted. Water for Prairie DuPont is provided by the city of Columbia.
People under the order should bring their tap water to a rolling boil for five minutes before drinking or cooking. The water can be used for bathing, washing and other common uses without boiling first.
Prairie DuPont Water District is based in East Carondolet.
A previous version of this story misstated the source for Prairie DuPont’s water. The BND regrets the error.
