Sunny skies, cool temperatures as workweek begins

Skies are expected to be sunny Monday with a high of 65 degrees across the metro-east.

A few clouds will move in to the area overnight when the low will drop to 42, according to the National Weather Service.

Skies will again be sunny Tuesday when the high will reach 64. Overnight the low will be 47.

Mostly sunny skies are expected Wednesday and Thursday when the high will be 67. Overnight, the low will be in the mid 40s.

The highs will be a few degrees cooler than the average temperature for late April in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The mercury typically reaches 71 degrees by the last week of April.

Temperatures will start to rise later in the week. On Friday the high will be 71 and on Saturday and Sunday it could rise to near 80.
