Authorities planned to hold a press conference at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in regard to an Alton woman who has been missing since Jan. 21.

The news conference was to be held in the Horseshoe Lake area, at Big Bend Road at the barricades in Madison, according to Madison County Sheriff’s Capt. T. Mike Dixon. Police had blocked off road access Tuesday morning to the entire lower tip of the peninsula of the lake.

Adria Jean Hatten, 39, was last seen leaving a friend’s house in Wood River on the morning of Jan. 20. She was reported missing the next day.

Her car, a white 2013 Ford Focus, was found Jan. 23 abandoned and stuck in a muddy field off Big Bend Road in Madison.

On Saturday morning, volunteer search crews found a prescription pill bottle with Hatten’s name on it about 300 feet away from the vehicle in the woods, according to Dixon.

Police have not released additional information regarding the status of the search.
