Crash closes road, downs utility lines in Fairview Heights

An accident had Lincoln Trail closed in Fairview Heights on Thursday morning, according to a Facebook post by Fairview Heights Police Department.

A driver backed a tractor-trailer into a utility pole, snapping it, according to a Fairview Heights firefighter. The pole and the attached line fell into the street and a parking lot. The pole belongs to AT&T, who sent crews to repair the downed line.

Lincoln Trail was closed from Ruby to Union Hill until shortly before 11:30 a.m., when westbound lanes and one eastbound lane were reopened.

The driver was uninjured.
