An Edwardsville-based wealth management firm is breaking ground Tuesday on its second metro-east location.

Visionary Wealth Advisors is building a $16 million, 65,000-square-foot office building off Interstate 64 at 1405 Green Mount Road in O’Fallon. The site is being treated for mine subsidence as concrete has been added beneath the ground to stabilize the foundation.

The wealth management firm will occupy the top floor of the five-story building. The fifth floor will include a meeting and penthouse-style venue that can seat 55 for dinner and an outdoor area that will accommodate 100. The rest of the building will be leased. The first floor will be built for a bank, restaurant and possibly a medical office. The second floor will be available office space for lease, and the third and fourth floors will be home to Kurowski & Shultz LLC law firm.

Brett Gilliland and Tim Hammett co-founded the firm in March 2014. Visionary Wealth Advisors has 27 financial advisers and employs 40 in Edwardsville, Brentwood, Mo., and Miami. The firm has $320 million in assets and provides financial planning and wealth management.

“We provide comprehensive wealth management that helps clients with investment management and estate planning in a family office atmosphere for college education and overall comprehensive wealth management planning,” Gilliland said.

Gilliland, a native of Mattoon, Ill., said the firm has grown in the past 13 months and credits the expansion to its financial advisers. He said he believes there is more potential for the business to grow and prosper in the metro-east.

“We have been blessed with great advisers,” Gilliland said. “And the more advisers we have, the more people we can help in the community.”

The new building is expected to be completed by July 2016.
