The Madison County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed in a crash Saturday afternoon near Hamel as a 24-year-old Pekin man.

According to a statement from the office, Damien G. Wall was driving a Chevy pickup south on Illinois 4 when he collided with a Werner Enterprises, Inc. tractor trailer that was traveling on Illinois 140 at 2 p.m. The crash site is about two miles east of Hamel and three miles west of Alhambra.

Wall, who died of head injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:45 p.m., according to the statement. Investigators at the scene noted that he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Toxicology test results are still pending, and an Illinois State Police investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

A memorial service is set to follow a 1:30 p.m. visitation Saturday at Bethesda Pentecostal Church of God, 1011 Veerman St., in Pekin. Abts Mortuary in Pekin is handling arrangements.

Wall is survived by his fiancee and a young son. His second child is due in September.
