Coroner IDs body found in lake at Frank Holten state park

The body found by a fisherman Tuesday night in Frank Holten state park has been identified as that of a 67-year-old Swansea man.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye identified the man as Melvin Rogers.

An autopsy was done on the body, but Dye said his office and Illinois State Police investigators are waiting for toxicology results to come back before a cause of death will be released.

Dye said Rodgers was identified by his sister.

A fisherman, whose identity was not released by police, was at the lake fishing when his hook snagged some clothing that was on the body. The fisherman called 911 at 7:54 p.m. Tuesday, according to Illinois State Police Sgt. Jerri Hochmuth.

Hockmuth said ISP is handling the investigation.
