Driver flown to hospital after head-on crash with semi in Southern Illinois
A 37-year-old Casey woman was flown to a hospital after the SUV she was driving collided head-on with a tractor-trailer just before 1 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 40.
Jennifer R. Cline was driving a gray 2017 Jeep SUV west on U.S. 40 about one mile east of Casey near Clark County Road, according to a news release from Illinois State Police.
She apparently swerved over the center lane and crashed head-on with a 2012 Kenworth truck drive by 44-year-old Travis E. East of Casey.
Cline was flown by medical helicopter to Carle Hospital in Urbana. East was taken by a Clark County ambulance to Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. Illinois State Police Trooper Tammy Welborn said the both suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
East was hauling a grain trailer, according to Welborn.
Cline was cited for improper lane usage, but the crash remained under investigation.
