A tire blowout caused a crash that killed the driver in a single-car accident in Williamson County on Friday, police said.

The driver of a 1990 Dodge pickup was northbound on Interstate 57 near milepost 57 in Williamson County when the left rear tire failed. The blowout caused the truck to go out of control, running off the roadway into a ditch, where it overturned.

The driver was killed. Illinois State Police did not immediately release the driver’s name, pending notification of the family.
