Police investigating after man shot to death in East St. Louis
The body of a 37-year-old man was found Tuesday morning in the 1600 block of Kansas Avenue in East St. Louis.
The victim, Carl H. Tate, of Springfield, had been shot multiple times, according to Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Craig Nolan.
St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye identified the victim. He said the victim was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at 7:30 a.m. in the baseball field at 16th Street and Kansas Avenue. The field is across the street from Nash Funeral Home.
East St. Louis police received a call about the shooting at 6:52 a.m. and found Tate’s body when they arrived. A joint police investigation is being conducted by East St. Louis police and Illinois State Police agents.
No suspects had been identified in the case and no motive had been established as of Tuesday afternoon.
