EAST ST. LOUIS — Police were searching Thursday for a 20-year-old East St. Louis woman who has been missing since May 15.

The missing woman was identified as Tamaja Calhoun of the 600 block of North 33rd Street.

East St. Louis Detective Juan McCoy said relatives made a missing-person report Wednesday.

Police learned from Calhoun’s uncle that she left her home on with a large bag that contained some of her clothes, got into a white Jeep or Ford Explorer with an unknown, middle-aged black man, McCoy said.

Family members could not recall what she was wearing. The family last saw her sometime in the middle of the day on May 15, McCoy said. There were no family issues that the police are aware of, McCoy said.

McCoy said family members said it is unusual for Calhoun to just leave and be gone for long. They told McCoy that Calhoun stays to herself and generally associates only with her family members.

Police asked that anyone with any information call McCoy at the East St. Louis Police Department at 618-482-6767.
