Bishop Braxton talks about Pope’s schedule when he visited the United States in 2015.
The Most Rev. Bishop of Belleville Edward Braxton had the privilege of hearing Aretha Franklin perform in 2015 when Pope Francis visited the United States in September 2015. Franklin, “The Queen of Soul,” died Thursday of pancreatic cancer at age 76.
Braxton’s comments on her performance of “Amazing Grace” were: “Or to see (Pope Francis) as Aretha Franklin was singing her wonderful rendering of ‘Amazing Grace’ as only Aretha Franklin could sing it. She doesn’t just sing it; she sings it. To see him really there; he wasn’t up and dancing, but he was truly engaged by the First Lady of Soul.”
He mentions Franklin in the attached video around the three minute mark.
