10 car crashes on Interstate 64 keep state police busy Tuesday morning

There were at least 10 accidents Tuesday morning on Interstate 64, according to Illinois State Police.

Trooper Calvin Dye said since 6 a.m. Tuesday there had been 10 accident, with four of them occurring within a 5-mile radius.

He added that there was limited information about the accidents available as troopers have been clearing one crash and moving on to the next all morning.

Police will release information on the crashes as soon as it becomes available, Dye confirmed.

Those 10 accidents include the following:

On westbound Interstate 64 at Illinois 111, with injuries

On Poplar Street Bridge, with no injuries

On eastbound Interstate 64 at mile marker 4.6, no injuries

On westbound Interstate 64 at mile marker 3.3, no injuries

Dye said he believes the public isn’t aware of just how many crashes ISP handles in the same areas.
