Two Cahokia men have been charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery and home invasion following a man’s death after they invaded a house he was in on Aug. 16.

Bradley Payne, 29, and Kevin Payne, 31, were charged in Madison County on Tuesday.

In a Facebook post, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said Damian M. Huber, 24, of Brighton, was visiting someone in the 150th block of Oak Street in Cottage Hills when the men broke into the home he was at and shot him around 11 p.m.

Huber was taken to a hospital in the St. Louis area in critical condition, but died later from his injuries.

Bradley Payne has also been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

Madison County officials said investigators are searching for additional people of interest, but have withheld those names for the time being.

Both Payne men are being held on $1 million bond.
