Man reportedly jumps from JB Bridge, sources say
A heavy police and fire department presence caused a traffic backup Friday afternoon at the J.B. Bridge, according to the St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency.
A person might have jumped or attempted to jump from the bridge, according to Herb Simmons, the agency’s director.
Traffic was backed up along I-255 on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation traveler information map.
The right lane of I-255 was closed past Koch Road in Missouri, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation with an estimated clearance time of 5:30 p.m.
